Abstract :
For SEAMEO BIOTROP, the last quarter of 2011 culminated with the completion of our research and training activities and other learning events which we consider as among our significant achievements for this year. That means 18 research projects, including the PhD theses of our grantees, and 8 training courses/ seminar-workshops/symposium. But what made this quarter more significant and memorable to us were the approval of our 9th Five-Year Development Plan (2012-2017) by our Governing Board and the collaboration with SEAMEO SEARCA in conducting a seminar-workshop on climate change adaptation in agriculture back-to-back with our respective Governing Board Meetings (GBM). This event marked the first time that two SEAMEO Centres held their GBM at the same time and venue! It was also a welcome experience for us to collaborate for the first time with the Indonesian Network for Agroforestry Education (INAFE) in jointly sponsoring a training course on climate change mitigation and adaptation for agricultural productivity.
Our Centre is thankful for having a productive year in 2011. We believe that our accomplishments this year are not solely ours. We share them with all the individuals and institutions that have helped and trusted us along the way. We are indebted to the continued support of the Government of Indonesia, SEAMEO, and our partner-organizations for enabling us to carry out our mandates.
We look forward to a more fruitful and productive 2012 with you all!
