Abstract:

This research is designed to develop a sustainable mangrove management strategy, based on a comparison of the mangrove ecological conditions in the two locations. This research was conducted in two mangrove forest areas located in Margasari Village, Maruhani Labuhan Regency, East Lampung Regency and in Sidodadi Village, Teluk Pandan Regency, Pesawaran Regency from March to November 2019. Vegetation and descriptive analysis was carried out to determine the diversity of flora and fauna in the mangrove forest. Several field visits were conducted to study the distribution patterns, frequency and dominance of species to describe the mangrove ecological conditions. The result showed mangroves that have different characteristics need different strategies to develop sustainable mangrove ecology. Diversification of mangrove species is needed to provide better mangrove ecology to be able to withstand the spread of pests and plant diseases naturally and be able to withstand abrasion, and habitat for a variety of fauna in mangrove.
