Abstract:

Mining activities will reduce quality of environment and ecosystem, whereas forest reclamation would restore the species diversity, which was previously a forested area. Assessment of mine reclamation success has been available, however the assessment of environmental services improvement and ecosystem has not yet been included. The purpose of this research was to determine recovery indicator index of postmining reclamation based on diversity of vegetation and wild animals (birds), index of species similarity of plants and wild animals, carbon stock potentials, Leaf Area Index (LAI), temperature, and soil microorganism studi case in PT Bukit Asam mining area. The result of this research was index of mine reclamation success started from the priority of reclamation area respectively diversity index of vegetation, Leaf Area Index (LAI), index of species similarity of plants, soil microorganism, temperature, carbon stocks potential, index of species similarity of wild animals (birds), and diversity index of wild animals (birds). This research showed that, the highest index of mine reclamation success was found in reclamation area 1995 while the lowest index was found in reclamation area 2013.
