BIOTROP, HLAF Formalize Collaboration for R&D and Graduate Scholarship

BIOTROP signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the Kuala Lumpur-based Human Life Advancement Foundation (HLAF) on 12 November 2014.

The first MoU is a general collaboration in research and development in areas of concern where HLAF and BIOTROP have common interests. This collaboration will be effective until March 2018.  The second MOU stipulates HLAF’s provision of at most four scholarship grants for Indonesians wanting to pursue PhD and post-doctoral programs that BIOTROP is expected to administer within the next four years starting in 2015.

HLAF is a licensed international foundation that supports scientific development and education. Its mission is to develop networks of organizations and individuals able and willing to contribute to the needs of society, as well as in the development of internationally competent individuals.

BIOTROP Director Prof. Dr. Bambang Purwantara and HLAF Chief Executive Officer Mr. Junaidi Said signed the MoUs.  The signing ceremony was held as part of the opening program for the Seminar Workshop on Enhancing the Quality, Safety, and Efficacy of Herbal Medicine in Southeast Asia co-organized by BIOTROP and HLAF.  It was witnessed by HLAF senior advisers, BIOTROP officials and staff, seminar participants, and invited local media outfits.
