Members of the Local House of Representatives (DPRD) of Wonogiri Regency visited BIOTROP

Some 20 members of Commission B of the Local House of Representatives (DPRD) of Wonogiri Regency came to BIOTROP on 3 August 2010.

Commission B is in charge of economy, finance and agriculture. The guests were welcomed by Dr. Bambang Purwantara, BIOTROP Director. A presentation on BIOTROP programs and projects was given by Dr. Irdika Mansur, BIOTROP DDRMC; and a lecture on “Post-harvest Pest and Fungi on Sorghum” by Dr. Okky S. Dharmaputra, Scientist of Plant Pathology / Pest and Disease Management Laboratory of BIOTROP.

The purpose of their visit was to explore the possibilities to cooperate with BIOTROP, mainly on the agricultural crop pest management (eradication and control). Members and officials of the DPRD of Wonogiri Regency had conducted the meeting to agree that the results of this working visit should be followed up with a work program for the future, so that the results could also benefit for the community.

Dr. Supriyanto, Scientist of Silviculture Laboratory of BIOTROP guided the visitors around the sorghum experimental field, mushroom culture, catfish hatchery and teakwood nursery; while Erina Sulistiani, M.Si., Manager of Tissue Culture Laboratory Services informed them about tissue culture conducted at BIOTROP Services Laboratory. The tour operators were Tenni Wahyuni and Ine Heryanti.
