BIOTROP Establishes Collaborations with 3 Universities in Southeast Asia

BIOTROP recently signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with two universities in the Philippines and one university in Vietnam.

The Centre’s new partners are the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) and the Cagayan State University (CSU) in the Philippines, and the Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) in Vietnam.

The MoU with CLSU was signed on 20 September 2017 via courier exchanges. The MoUs with CSU and VNUA were signed on 18 October 2017 during the Centre’s 55th Governing Board Meeting held in Brunei Darussalam.

In general, the collaborations with these universities will cover joint research and training implementation, provision of technical advice, and staff and information exchange on tropical biology and related topics that would mutually benefit all parties and their respective stakeholders.

With CSU, the collaboration would especially focus on conservation and sustainable use of mangrove ecosystem.

All MoUs are effective for three years.
