On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 1:00 PM WIB, SEAMEO BIOTROP and Universitas Hasanuddin Makassar held further discussions and signed an Implementation Agreement (IA) in the Kenari Room. The event was attended by Dr. Ir. A. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P., IPU, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, along with his team. This meeting aimed to deepen and expand the cooperation between the two institutions in the field of tropical biotechnology research and development.

The signing of the Implementation Agreement marks a crucial step in strengthening and broadening the collaboration between SEAMEO BIOTROP and Universitas Hasanuddin, with a focus on advancing research and development in tropical biotechnology. This agreement is expected to bring positive impacts to both institutions in the development of science and technology in this specialized field.

The event began with a welcoming address by Ms. Sri Widayanti, M.Si, Acting Deputy Director for Administration at SEAMEO BIOTROP. She warmly welcomed the UNHAS delegation, saying, "Welcome back to SEAMEO BIOTROP. On behalf of the Director, I am proud and honored to welcome you here. This is our second meeting, and we are very pleased to continue the well-established cooperation."

Dr. Ir. A. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P., IPU expressed his eagerness to implement the agreed-upon plans and utilize available facilities, such as the educational forest area, in the upcoming collaboration. He stated, "I hope that this agreement will be implemented soon. We have several projects ready for collaboration with Universitas Hasanuddin, including locations for trials. We have a special forest area designated for education, so we are just waiting for the right time to proceed."

This cooperation is expected to make a significant contribution to the advancement of knowledge and technology in tropical biotechnology and strengthen the relationship between SEAMEO BIOTROP and Universitas Hasanuddin. (ydl)
