Jakarta, 17 October 2024 – SEAMEO BIOTROP delegates participated in the 2nd International Conference on Food and Nutrition (ICFN), organized by SEAMEO RECFON in collaboration with SEAMEO SEARCA and SEAMEO BIOTROP. The event, held on 17-18 October 2024 at Redtop Hotel and Convention Center, Jakarta, centered on the theme of “Environmental Nutrition,” exploring the interplay between food systems, health, and the environment.
The 2nd ICFN was opened by Datuk Nur Habibah (Director of SEAMEO Secretariat) along with Dr. Herqutanto (Director of SEAMEO RECFON), Dr. Glenn Gregorio (Director of SEAMEO SEARCA), and Mrs. Sri Widayanti (Acting Deputy Director of Administration at SEAMEO BIOTROP).
Datuk Dr. Habibah Abdul Rahim, SEAMEO Secretariat Director, also regards a message of support for this international conference. “SEAMEO believes that through working together we can find that within challenges are opportunities to effect change. Thus, this conference is a testament and platform to our shared commitment to address these problems by discussing new ideas and identifying innovative solutions”.
SEAMEO BIOTROP’s also participated in the exhibition session, showcased an array of products, programs, and publications aimed at promoting sustainable tropical biology practices. The booth featured some of SEAMEO BIOTROP's products, including Bioriza fertilizer, Biopost compost, tissue culture plants, and stingless bees cultivation. Additionally, visitors were introduced to SEAMEO BIOTROP’s publications, such as Scopus-indexed journal of BIOTROPIA and Biodivers scientific magazine, which continue to serve as critical outlets for knowledge dissemination in the region.
During the event, SEAMEO BIOTROP also participated in the Research Market, a dedicated platform where organizations promoted their programs and sought potential partners for future collaborations.
