Implementing Risk Management in Facing the Digital and New Normal Eras

SEAMEO BIOTROP in collaboration with PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk held a two-day In-House Training on 9 - 10 March 2021. The training was held in both online and offline platforms with theme “Risk Management Implementation in Facing the Digital Era and the New Normal”. The In-House Training was attended by representatives from each department in SEAMEO BIOTROP.

On the first day, a Sharing Session was held with resource person from PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk who delivered presentation on risk management, while on the second day a classroom session was held for learning risk management implementation in each department at SEAMEO BIOTROP.

In his remarks, the Head of the Risk and Quality Management Group of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Mr Bayu Nurbaya, ST, ERMCP, QRMP, expressed his expectation that the sharing session would increase competence in the field of risk management and establish good relations between SEAMEO BIOTROP and PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk.

The opening remarks were delivered by the Director of SEAMEO BIOTROP, Dr. Zulhamsyah Imran, who said that organizational governance must continuously be improved to minimize risks by increasing mitigation capabilities and managing potential risks. Dr. Zulhamsyah expressed his expectation that well-managed risk management in each department in SEAMEO BIOTROP can support the implementation of Good Corporate Governance.

The current economic recovery can be started by understanding the situation and having a quick response to mitigate risks. During this recovery period, one of the roles of risk management is to consider potential risks in order to improve the performance of an organization or company.

Furthermore, Dr. Zulhamsyah emphasized that participants should be able to strengthen their ability in facing crisis conditions and to rise in the new normal era by applying risk management principles, so that they can manage risks and opportunities related to the processes carried out in their respective departments.
