SEAMEO BIOTROP Director, Deputy Director for Administration, and SEAMEO BIOTROP Governing Board Secretary attended the 46th SEAMEO High Officials Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 28-29, 2023. This meeting assembled High Officials and representatives from Southeast Asian countries, Associate Member Countries, Affiliate Members, partners, and SEAMEO Centre Directors. The focus was on discussing and collaborating on critical issues in education.
The meeting, hosted by the SEAMEO Secretariat, was graced by the presence of Thailand's Minister of Education, H.E. Pol Gen Permpoon Chidchob. The minister, along with other high officials, actively participated in a gallery walk, interacting with exhibitors ranging from ed-tech startups to universities and providers of mutual aid systems for educational facilities.
The event was organized back-to-back with the launch of the Global Education Monitoring (GEM) 2023 Southeast Asia Regional Report on Technology in Education on November 30, 2023. The report, titled "Technology in Education: A Tool on Whose Terms?" provides an in-depth look at the role of technology in the region's educational landscape.
Following the meeting, the SEAMEO BIOTROP representatives, together with Deputy Director of SEAMOLEC and SEAMEO Qitep in Language visited the SEAMEO Secretariat office in Bangkok on 1st of December 2023 to seek references on human resources and international financial maangement. Ms. Pintip Iamnirath, Deputy Director for Admin & Communication, Ms Natcha Kampiranond, Administration Manager and Mrs Kornkanok Chareonwuthilarp, Finance Manager of SEAMEO Secretariat welcomed the delegations and facilitated the meeting.
