Bogor, 3 March 2025 - The capstone internship program was officially opened by SEAMEO BIOTROP Deputy Director for Administration, Dr Elis Rosdiawati. This internship will undergo a three-month internship until May 2025 in various fields, including feed production, aquaculture of both ornamental and consumption fish, DNA barcoding, fingerprinting, tissue culture of rare trees, weed resistance, GIS & remote sensing, edible mushroom cultivation, communication, psychology, and more A total of 16 participants joined in the capstone program and 8 participants in the regular internship program.
The opening ceremony orientation session was held in Jati room, SEAMEO BIOTROP, starting with introduction between the interns and their mentors, facilitated by Ms Tenni Wahyuni as Human Resources and Administration Department Manager, followed by internship briefing, a campus tour, and regulations orientation, presented by the Partnership and Collaboration and Management Department Manager, Ms Sri Widayanti. Additionally, capstone interns are required to present their internship results at the end of the program.
On this occasion, Dr Doni Yusri, Deputy Director for Program emphasized that interns will receive direct guidance from prominent experts at SEAMEO BIOTROP. The success of the interns greatly depends on the mission they bring, with key factors including discipline, responsibility, and strong commitment.
Meanwhile, Dr Elis Rosdiawati stated that SEAMEO BIOTROP positions itself as a learning environment for future qualified leaders, supported by experts in their fields. Mentors will share their knowledge and guide interns effectively, fostering improvements in knowledge, information, and attitudes among the participants.
Ms Sri Widayanti also provided information regarding SEAMEO BIOTROP in relation to the internship program. She encouraged participants to engage in cross-mentor interactions, expand their networks and collaborations with fellow interns and mentors, and maximize their learning opportunities.
During their tour, the internship explored various innovative and eco-friendly facilities at SEAMEO BIOTROP, including hydrponic system, stingless bee garden, sensory garden, aquatic park, mushroom house, herbarium and tissue culture facilities .These area showcase the canter’s commitment to agro-eco-edu- tourism (AEET), integrating agricultural practices with ecological awareness and educational opportunities.
