Workshop on Popular Scientific Articles BIODIVERS Scientific Magazine

Scientific manuscript is among dissemination medium for sharing the research results to wider audiences.  In general, scientific manuscript is submitted to a scientific journal, preferably an internationally accredited journal.

Other than being submitted to scientific journals, research results can be disseminated through scientific magazine by means of popular scientific articles.  In a sense, popular scientific article contains research results or opinions laminated with scientific argumentation and be presented in popular style language to be easily understood by the general public.

In elevating writing competence of popular scientific articles, SEAMEO BIOTROP held a Workshop on Popular Scientific Articles BIODIVERS Scientific Magazine on 20-21 June 2022.  The workshop consisted of presentations and coaching clinic sessions.  The resource persons and materials presented in this workshop were: 1) Prof Teuku Faisal Fathani, the Acting Director for Research, Technology and Community Services, the Directorate General of Higher Education, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Transformation of Higher Education: Dissemination of Research Results); 2) Ms. Aline Rogeleonick, ST, MTI from the Bureau of Cooperation and Public Relations, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Developing Scientific Communication through Scientific Articles); and 3) Prof Dr Ir Hefni Effendi, MPhil (Lecturer of Department of Aquatic Resources Management, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, IPB University).  This event was actively participated by 46 participated with 24 manuscript drafts.

In his closing remarks, dr zulhamsyah imran this workshop can be a media for collaboration between seameo biotrop, and he hopes that through this workshop the participants can find their motivation in writing as their legacy (sis, and, sw).
