SEAMEO BIOTROP Scientist becomes One of the 2021 SEAMEO Service Awards Recipients

Dr Supriyanto, a Senior Scientist of SEAMEO BIOTROP, becomes one of the 2021 SEAMEO Service Awards recipients. The purpose of the SEAMEO Service Awards is to provide recognition and appreciation to staff members of the SEAMEO Units who have demonstrated an exceptionally high level of achievement in such areas as work performance, innovation, and creativity, professionalism, and commitment that contribute to the success of the Organization's mission and goals.

Dr Supriyanto is one of the influential senior scientists in SEAMEO BIOTROP. He starts his career at SEAMEO BIOTROP in 1981 as a Scientist on the Biological Aspects of Silviculture. Dr Supriyanto got his Engineering Degree from Universitas Gajah Mada Yogyakarta and got his Doctoral degree in 1989 from the Faculty of Science, Nancy University, France.

Throughout his career, Dr Supriyanto has published not less than 58 publications, 14 research activities, including several patents such as Efficient Stove for Farmer Energy (Invention), Spherical Densitometer, dan Ethanol Distillatory.

Currently, Dr Supriyanto conducts many activities and ongoing research, including:
  • Biological Aspect of Silviculture.
  • Soil Carbon Management.
  • Mycorrhizae.
  • Plant Physiology.
  • Forest Health Monitoring.
  • Mutation Breeding of Sorghum for Food, Feed, Fuel, and Fibers.
  • Farmer Energy.
  • Seed Technology.
  • Essential oil from various plants for aromatherapy, perfume, and cosmetics.
  • Forest Honey Bee in West Kalimantan as Natural Product.
  • Non-Seasonal Fruit Trees and Vegetables.
